In recent years, the concept of health (healthy cities, healthy buildings) has garnered much attention within the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and urban planning. This can be attributed in large part to the growing concern for the health of our natural environment and our bodies combined with a growing understanding of the influence that the built environment has on both  You can find more on this discussion here, here and here     


With a few days left until the midterm review, remember to be thorough, precise as well as curious, skeptical and playful in researching your themes and presenting your findings. Look for oblique, interesting, overlooked and beautiful aspects that could and should be lifted from the material. And where appropriate, do not forget to make use of the analog/digital tools introduced throughout the third year.

The ability of Malcolm Gladwell to "mine current academic research for insights, theories, direction, or inspiration." as exemplified in his multiple articles and books may be of inspiration. As might be the work of Jared Diamond, in particular his book Guns, Germs and Steel.
